The brief
Konstruktionshjälpen produces building-permit drawings (bygglovsritningar), structural drawings, energy and fire-safety documentation for Swedish homeowners and construction firms. The brief was not one website — it was a platform: a service catalogue deep enough to sell fourteen distinct engineering deliverables, a municipality-level SEO surface to win search across Sweden, and a free self-serve drawing tool that turns curious homeowners into qualified leads before anyone picks up the phone.
Building permits are a high-consideration, low-frequency purchase. A homeowner planning an Attefallshus does not know what a kontrollplan is, whether they need an energy calculation, or which municipality rules apply — and they will not fill in a contact form until they do. The old funnel started at "request a quote", which meant every unqualified visitor either bounced or turned into an unpaid consultation call. The site had to educate, qualify, and price the work before a human got involved, and it had to do it in every municipality Konstruktionshjälpen serves.
The approach
6 decisions that shaped the result — and why each one went the way it did.
Fourteen services are grouped into three mental buckets — planning & design, technical documents, building types & rules — each with its own page, its own regulatory framing (PBL, PBF, BBR), and a one-line answer to "do I need this?". Six services are marked GRATIS to lower the first step; two are flagged POPULÄR to steer the undecided. The mega-menu carries the same taxonomy so the structure is legible from anywhere on the site.
Building permits are decided municipality by municipality, and that is exactly how people search. A templated city layer covers Stockholm, Göteborg, Malmö, Uppsala, Nacka, Täby, Huddinge, Danderyd and Värmdö, each targeting local permit intent while sharing one content system, so a rule change is edited once rather than nine times.
The hero leads with two self-serve actions — an instant project-cost estimator and "start drawing your own project for free" — with the phone number as third choice rather than first. A four-step process module (advice → drawing & delivery → adjustments → approval & build) sets expectations up front, and a 30-minute no-obligation booking widget catches visitors who want a human without forcing a quote request.
Rita is a separate Next.js application on its own subdomain where anyone can draw a 2D floor plan, flip it to 3D, furnish it from a material and furniture library, and export to PDF. Sign-up is Google, Apple, or email. It is genuinely free and genuinely useful, which is what makes it work as acquisition: the user arrives with a finished plan and a real project, and the paid drawing services are the obvious next step.
For renovations, drawing from scratch is the wrong starting point — the building already exists. Hemscan is a free Swedish-language iPhone app that uses LiDAR to scan a room into a dimensioned 3D model with walls, doors and windows detected, then syncs it live into the Rita web editor. It closes the loop from physical room to editable plan to permit drawing without a tape measure.
The marketing surface is prerendered and served from the edge with a short revalidation window, so service and city pages are static-fast for crawlers and first-time visitors while the blog, shop and project gallery stay current without a redeploy.
The whole thing
These are complete page captures, not crops. Point at one to walk it from top to bottom — on a phone it plays as it comes into view.

What it does
What it runs on
The result
One content system now serves fourteen services and nine municipalities, so a regulatory change is a single edit.
Two self-serve entry points (cost estimator, free editor) sit ahead of the quote form, so contact requests arrive pre-qualified.
Rita and Hemscan give the firm a product moat no competing drawing consultancy in the segment offers.
